Job-Seeking Hardly a "Full-Time Job"
for Most Unemployed

Less than 40% of unemployed job-seekers spend an average of more than four hours per day searching for work, and only 7% devote six hours or more to the task daily, despite abundant advice that looking for work should be a "full-time job," according to research led by Connie R. Wanberg of the University of Minnesota and published in the Academy of Management Journal. The finding dovetails with research showing that the unemployed are natural targets for time-consuming family tasks.
